We are a group of gay men with an enthusiasm for transport, road, rail, water or air, historic and new.
This site contains details on the group's aims and activities, as well as membership information, how to contact us and information on our programme for the 2007/8 season.
The group is now in its 35 year with a solid core of about 90 members, and meetings are held monthly.
We try very hard to make the group welcoming and fun for new members, so if you would like to join and come along to a meeting to see if we're for you, please contact us.
the Group produces a monthly member's newsletter outlining forthcoming events and items of interest for the transport enthusiast.
Many of our members belong to other transport interest groups and share their vast amount of knowledge.
The Transport Group exists to provide facilities for meetings, visits, tours and similar events connected with railways, buses, trams, trolleybuses, aircraft, shipping and associated forms of transport. We also hold periodic social events.
The next meeting in September is another of our evenings of archive sound recordings with people who have worked in the transport industry and recount their experiences and add a few anecdotes. These fascinating archive tapes capture the real Living History of what it was like to work in the transport sector with in the UK from pre war to the present day.
